I’m not interested in racing as a sport. I also have no desire to ever race a vehicle in real life. The components of a car are equally uninteresting to me. Does the car go fast? Yes? Great. That’s all I need to know.
When I play a racing game, what I want is white-knuckle craziness, which is what appeals to me about rally racing. Rally is insane.
The best kind of rally is the basic point to point time trial through wildly varying environments. You start off on a dusty mountain cliff and the next thing you know you’ve gone through a forest and are now ripping up the roads along the beach. The terrain is uneven and unforgiving. The roads widen and thin. Hairpin turns appear unexpectedly, keeping you on high alert the entire time. It’s you versus the road.
That said, I’m really looking forward to DiRT 2, which is coming out in September 2009. I played through the career mode in DiRT 1 and enjoyed it immensely. I have a few concerns about DiRT 2 though. I’ve heard that they have included more closed-circuit races. That’s not what I want, as stated above. The first DiRT game would have been perfect if it completely got rid of all the closed-circuit and endurance races.
Anyways, I hope DiRT 2 delivers and I guess I’ll be reinstalling the original DiRT until DiRT 2 comes out!

I have an idea for an animation that revolves around a piece of music I wrote titled, “Mode 7”. The title is a reference to a technology developed by Nintendo for the SNES that would allow for 3D-like environments. It was used in games like F-Zero and Mario Kart.
Anyways, this cityscape is a backdrop for the animation:

Pigsquitoes are annoying.
They’re scavengers, they get into absolutely everything and there are thousands of them about. Not to mention that they’re also filthy. They’re like a plague!
They’re kind of cute though. I wouldn’t mind having one as a pet if they lived longer than a few months.

This is Face. Face is a good dog.
Face lives in a tree and barks at anyone that passes by. Face likes to chase birds and dig holes in the ground.
Face is also very strong and can pull the weight of a tractor with little effort. He has six tractors buried around the tree that he lives in.

Depressed Orange Robot is a character I originally drew back in high school. He was made pretty much for the sole purpose of making a t-shirt, which I wore a lot back then.
There’s a bit of fiction surrounding him and some other characters in his world, but the short version of it all is: Orange Robot is encased in fabric and stuffing, so he looks like a stuffed toy. He lives in a perpetual state of depression because it’s the only emotional state he was programmed to have. Even so, he has found that he enjoys eating sour oranges, even though they also make him sad because they are orange like him and orange is a depressing color.
Orange Robot’s only friend is a gelatinous lump that follows him around. Also; as far as he knows, his over-sized arms and hands serve no useful purpose, they’re just heavy.
So, here’s Orange Robot, living in his bland world, feeling sorry for himself. It’s OK to give him a hug if you feel like it. It won’t make him happy, but at least he can’t get any more depressed than he already is. :)
