ezmuze+ is back in the Top 10

    10/09/2009 05:29 PM by [THA] Hamst3r

On May 6th 2009, ezmuze+ Hamst3r edition was released on the XBOX Live Marketplace. The first week that ezmuze+ Hamst3r edition was out, it was able to secure a place as the 5th most purchased Community Game with 800 sales in five days.

The next week ezmuze+ rose to the number 2 spot with 1165 sales. This was the peak though as the 3rd week saw 812 sales and the 4th week 743 sales.

The week after that, ezmuze+ was off the Top 10 with only 449 sales.

Sales continued to decrease each week, but never dropped below 100 sales. Even though ezmuze was out of sight to anyone visiting the Community Games section, sales were still happening. Word of mouth was keeping the game alive. People were sending me messages about how many people they got to buy the game that day. There was a community slowly forming around it. I was shocked that people were that into it.

Eventually, this downtime would be interrupted by a surge of sales. Starting on August 10th, week 15 saw 448 sales. What happened? What changed? On the 11th, an XBOX Live update happened, which would add user ratings to the Community Games section. Gamers could now rate the games they were playing. ezmuze+ Hamst3r edition was the second highest rated Community Game. Woo!

This had a profound effect on sales as ezmuze was given a front page presence again, and with the popularity came sales. Each week the number of sales would increase.

Last week, week 18, ezmuze+ Hamst3r edition finally returned to the Top 10 with 842 sales, which is apparently only good enough to secure the 10th spot now. Why the sudden increase? What happened there? I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1 happened and brought with it a load of attention to the now branded Indie Games section.

Currently, sales are looking good. As far as ratings go, ezmuze+ is 3rd in the USA, with the number 1 and 2 spots currently being occupied by I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1 and Miner Dig Deep and for good reason.
